My husband, the wonderful adventurous guy that he is, decided it was time we finally got our chicks. We've been discussing this for MONTHS now. I only half was serious but don't tell him that.
I'm not a farm girl. I didn't take 4H. I don't particularly like animals. Not even our dog really...ssshhh don't tell him that either.
And, secretly I'm afraid of anything with a beak and last I checked, chickens still have beaks.
Our first thoughts about this urban farming, as I like to call it, happened a few months back when we seen a show on people who live in the cities and they are raising chickens. I thought it was cool, I admit.
I was all for Prop 2 - Free those caged animals god damn!!! I buy cage free organic eggs and chickens. Yes they are more expensive but hey, I'm doing my part for the animals...... but it's breaking the bank!!!
See, we eat a LOT of eggs. I'm a fitness junkie! A protein-aholic! I need my protein for building these guns!!! And egg whites are a go to staple for me. I eat a LOT of them!!! How many you might say??? I probably eat 9 egg whites a day....sometimes more. It's my grab and go meal.
Soooo, after months of my husband researching the chickens and the coups (or is it coops??...hell I don't know) and the feed and getting the permit (yes, in the city you need a permit for chickens and NO ROOSTERS!) we have finally got our hands on some little chicks. 4 of them to be exact.
And they are sooooo damn CUTE!!!! Look how cute they are!!!!
Even with those frigging beaks!
