Tri-tip and Potty Talk

Still feeling like complete a**!

But I must be getting better cause I was hungrier today than I have been all week.

This morning I was craving OJ!!  Sometimes I just crave it and it has to be ICE COLD!  Not sure why that is. Usually we juice our own with the amazing Breville juicer but the other day I didn't want to go out and pick oranges, risking life and limb each time I coughed up a lung.  Surely I would have fallen off the ladder.  So, the amazing husband that I have went to Traders and got me some OJ.  He's too good to me!  Maybe this juice is as close to homemade as it gets.  I only had a tiny glass of it.  I think a whole serving probably has more carbs than I usually injest in an entire day!  But damn, it was GOOD!

Today I did a ton of blog reading!  I love it when I get the alone time to relax and read.  There are so many primal eaters.  It's awesome!

Over at Elana's Pantry today she had a recipe for a shake that peaked my curiosity.  All the ingredients I had on hand so figured what the hell right?!
3/4 cup coconut milk
1/2 tbsp of lime juice
handful of frozen strawberries

Mixed it all up in the Vitamix and tada!!
Coconut Strawberry Lime Shake
It wasn't fantastic but it was refreshing.

Perhaps next time a shot of Grey Goose might make it more interesting.

Dinner was up next and I was head chef.  We had a lot of random veggies left on hand from the past week and since tomorrow is farmer's market day I wanted to clean out the fridge.
Our primal protein of the night was a chipotle marinated/rubbed tri-tip.  Baked it in the oven.  Turned out great!  Good spicy bite to it.  Here's a little before and after action for ya.

What else was left in the fridge.....
Fresh Fennel
Head of Cauliflower
Swiss Chard
hhmmmmmm
Perfect!!

Cauliflower Pizza Crust
3 eggs
1 cup of mozzarella cheese shredded
1/2 cup of shredded parmesan
4 tbsp of fresh fennel chopped up
3 gloves of chopped garlic
Mix it all together in a bowl.  Spread it out onto some parchment paper on a cookie sheet.  Bake for 25 minutes at 450.

It was sooo good and a HUGE hit with the family! YAY!!  You could totally top this with sauce and toppings.  It was firm enough to pick up and eat with your hands.  We just ate it plain and it was fantastic.  The thing was huge too!  We have a ton of leftovers.  I was REALLY worried about the cheese in it.  I've not had ANY dairy in like 3 months but I figure just a tiny bit every now and then won't hurt too much.

With the chard I just sauteed it up with my remaining fennel and 3 more cloves of garlic. What can I say...we love us some garlic!!

Dinner is served.

While rummaging through my blog list I came across this awesome post that was over on Primal Chat.  Jeff was interviewed for an article that ArgusLeader was running.   It was so wonderful to read the article and to see people talking about the primal way of life.  I really enjoyed it!!  Of course there were some random comments from completely ignorant jackasses at the bottom of the article page.  But, what kind of world would this be without a few dick-heads right?!  Jeesh!!

Ok I need to note something....I had to just run to the bathroom.
I'm thinking the tiny amount of dairy I ingested at dinner did not sit well with my new primal body.
Sorry. I don't do potty talk.  But, I had to let you know.

And I guess with that I will leave you with a few pictures ............

I'm jealous that you pick your own oranges, they won't grow here in TX. Too damn hot!

That dinner looks FAB! I love how your family is embracing the paleo lifestyle:)

Hope you get to feeling 100% soon girl...and my verification word was "Hooter"

HOOTER!! LOL! I love it!!

Oranges grow very well here! Everyone has oranges and lemons in their yard.
And the family is embracing the lifestyle. Slowly but surely I'll have them full force. I add a little more each day and they don't really know they are turning into cave dwellers...but they are =)

Stacy!! LOL!! My older daughter is pretty good about eating what I make but I gotta tell ya, me and my husband are MEANIES!!!! There are plenty of nights she is sitting there and doesn't want to eat what I made. but, TOO BAD SO SAD!! LOL I'm trying to get her more engaged in the actual cooking process and stuff and the grocery shopping. I let her pick a few things for dinner that are within my boundaries. It works well. For the most part. She told me tonight she was sick of eating cauliflower....haha

What is Jay Robb? Did I miss that? Is it a protein powder? I'm thinking the coconut milk wasn't tasty in the shake. I still have some leftover and don't want it to go to waste so I might venture into pancake territory...heaven help me...lol

Hi Shantel,
Just hearing about your visits Trader Joe's brings a tear to my eye. I love that store.
Just checking out your blog. Looks fun and you are in the Bay Area. Woohoo.

Are you from SF? Where do you live?

Yes Jay Robb is a protein powder made from grass fed non hormone'd cows lol. Not Primal but as good as it gets cause I just refuse to eat a meal after a hard workout yuck, I just want a drink lol :)

Hi Jennifer!
I'm right across the bay from the city. We live just outside Oakland in Castro Valley. And we are a block from a Trader Joes..lol Hence why I'm there every other day....literally! I'm originally from WA state but I moved to the bay in 97'. Never looked back. I was meant to live here!

Stacy....yes yes. that is protein powder is ringing a bell now..ding ding...lol Do you like the taste? I don't like to eat after a workout either. I was actually talking to my husband last night about my almond milk addiction and I was telling him how really I would much rather drink all my meals.. I mean it's like always around lunch or breakfast I'm like...ok I can eat....or I can have a decaf almond milk latte..and I always go for the latte. Not sure why that is.
