I know it's been a looonnnggg time since I posted.  I've got a massive amount of things to share.  It might take two posts.

First off - I'm thrilled to be back home!!!  The girls and I did a long haul up to ID and WA to visit family.  We were gone a few weeks and it was for the most part a great trip.  However, my family has zero concept of health or nutrition and my mom's idea of a good meal is a few donuts topped off with ice cream.
hhmmmmm and I was a very chunky child....imagine that!!!
To the other extreme is my father who happens to think a cold bud light is the right recipe for every diet.

Such was the extent of our two weeks of eating.  Hence I'm feeling fat, bloated, completely funky, and at a loss without my mojo.  Where oh where art thou???

My two beauties were the epitome of traveling superstars though.  Really!  They are total gems and I adore them more now than ever! The trip home was especially rough because we decided to just go for it and drive straight home.  That was 20 hours of our life we'll never get back...lol

Did I mention it's good to be home??!!!!

A few days before we had left my husband decided to try his hand at some homemade fruit roll ups made in the dehydrator.  Since we've had that thing the only food we've made is beef jerky.    I had bought the fruit roll trays a long time ago and they were way overdue for a test run.

We started with some fresh plums from my mother in laws tree.  Sorry the pic isn't that great.

The plums were fantastic though!!!  I tested a few out in the vita-mix with a handful of ice and a shot (or two) of tequila.  YUMMMERS!!  Didn't get a pic of that though as it went down wayyyyy to easily.

My husband is rolling the fruit and it looks like he might have the makings for a second job.
Fat Doobie roller anyone???

The fruit rolls were a big hit!  My daughter thought they were too tart but we loved them.
No added sugar or preservatives.  Just plums mixed in the vita-mix and poured into the trays to dry.

This weekend, we try peaches!!

One more thing I wanted to share.
We had gone to dinner at my sister in laws about a month ago (god has it really been that long?) and I made this cake I had seen in my mother in laws Good Housekeeping magazine (am I old now because i read those?).
It was messy and runny and I can't cut straight, but man it was good!
Angel food cake, lemon pudding, fresh raspberries, and then a lime glaze I made and drizzled on top.
Primal what???  ha!!
Delish!!

Glad to see you're posting again! The blogging world has been so quiet lately.

If you think you feel bloated after two weeks away, you can imagine how I feel after six weeks away from home! Argh!!! I really do wonder how the hardcore primal peeps say no to the bad foods ALL the time. I guess I'm too weak, or, maybe its the margaritas that make me do it:)

Hi! Found your blog last week and have since read every post, I LOVE it! I was sad to see you hadn't posted in a month and thought maybe you were done with the blog so I was so excited to see your new post!!

I'm a med student and interested in nutrition and health, and I'm SO SICK of hearing "experts" preach about the USDA food pyramid and other bullshit...Ugh. I totally agree with your food philosophy and what you cook and talk about and you're hilarious!

I also love reading it bc I did an Americorps program in the Bay Area and reading about the Berkeley Bowl and Peet's...oh, how I miss Cali!! My parents also have a place in Santa Barbara, so I'm always trying to get away there.

Keep rockin' the awesome blog and vlogs!! Hope to chat with you sometime!

    Emily
